Prayers said before a journey.

Christian prayers for travel go back to the New Testament, where Paul's letters open with greetings from those on missionary journeys and close with prayers for safe arrival. In a world where travel was genuinely dangerous, the Church developed specific prayers for the road, the sea, and the longer journeys of life. The prayers gathered here include the BCP collects most commonly used at the start of a journey, the Aaronic Blessing said over a departing family member, and the prayers traditionally said by pilgrims setting out. They ask for safety, for arrival, and for the grace of the road itself.
